As I start back I pass this island. I have spent some time sitting near this island hoping that a Great Blue Heron would decided pick this place to feed while I was close enough to get some close-up pictures. No GBH came to pose for me, but I did take several pictures of the dead tree on the left end of the island. It seems to have a lot of interesting character to it, and it doesn't fly away as soon as I get close like the GBH do... ;-) Small islands like this one are common in the backwater.
